Perth Amboy Gallery Center for the Arts was pleased to present /Ofrendas , A Mexican Tradition /took place from November 1, from 1:00-7:00 p.m. and November 2 2009, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. This holiday Mexican celebration is the time when family members who have died are remembered in Mexico, the most important holidays of the year. Although this celebration is associated with the dead, it is portrayed as a period full of life, happiness, color , food, family time. Traditionally in Mexico, Ofrendas, which are altars, are set up for the ceremony. They are adorned with flowers, pottery, incense, pictures of those who have passed, sweets, food and other thinkers according to Noe Dominguez curator of this activity. Music is the most important vehicle to guide and welcome the souls or spirits of our ancestors that are believed to return once a year from a different world to spend some time with their loves ones and enjoy the pleasures that they are once had in life using musical instruments found in nature.
